I watched a documentary earlier this month on Harry Clarke called ‘Darkness in Light’. It was fantastic and reminded me how much I love Clarke’s use of colour in his work and it also gave me an opportunity to see some high quality close-ups of his Geneva Window, which I can’t fine good images on the web of ANYWHERE!
Because I’ve been doing a lot of glasswork lately, I’ve gotten all geeky about the way Clarke used acids to control the intensity of colour, he had a really good eye for composition and tonal contrast. Not to mention he was a badass illustrator so all his figures were like, beautifully expressive and added to the narrative of his work.
